From Bhiwani to Beijing -- Boxers do us proud

Hi all...
It's been a long time since i something.
Well talking about the performance of the Indian Pugilists they really have done us proud by reaching the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games.Akhil,Vijender and Jitender Kumar have done the country proud. Before these Olympics only 2 Indian boxers ever made it to the last 8 in the Olympics in Helsinki 1952 and Sydney 2000 and this time we have 3 .
Well normally the expectations will rise and we will expect all three of them to reach the semis..

Best of Luck from my side to all three

And Finally it began......

So friends finally the most exiting stage of my life has begun. My hostel life and college life.
When I initially joined AIT jolted by my failure at JEE I had a lot of apprehensions about the college but it has been two days since the classes began and I find all those apprehensions melting away.
The hostel just ROCKS. I got some funky seniors and cool freshers whose goal is to have fun fun and fun. Excellent infrastructure along with an A/c room is really really COOL man. I was ragged the I joined hostel and would like to remain it a secret as in what happened to me :)

It would take me some time to comment on the faculty and right now I have a class so a short note should suffice but as soon as I get time I will upload some pics and for now it's SAYONARA.

The GOLDEN BUOYY-----Abhinav Bindra.

A star-starved nation found a new sporting icon in a bespectacled marksman as Abhinav Bindra shot his way to history, winning India's first ever individual Olympic gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle event on Monday. The sharpshooter from Chandigarh lit up an otherwise gloomy day at the Beijing Shooting Range and sizzled in the finals to lift the gold, ahead of his Chinese and Fin rivals.

As he wrote history, the 25-year-old was poise and grace personified, talking about his attaining Olympic immortality and its possible ramifications in a country that remains almost biased towards cricket."I sincerely hope my medal changes the face of India's Olympic sports," the bespectacled shooter said after winning the gold at the Beijing Shooting Range on Monday.

His legendary act has definitely paved way for other Indians to come forward and do the country proud........

Thank you Abhinav for making me eat my words.

Preparation for JEE - and its alternatives

Any student in India opting for PCM in their +2 dreams of studying in IIT's,but is the preparation which takes 2 years is quite difficult. So i will talk about some alternatives of JEE
Out of the 3-4 lakh odd students writing JEE only some 7000 make it to these premier institutions. What about the rest? Some make it to the NIT's, some to lesser known private colleges. So even after putting in 2 years of hard work many still do not make it to the IIT's.

In my opinion you guys(those who can afford it) can prepare for SAT/IELTS because
1.Considering the Indian curriculum students find SAT fairly easy and scores of 2200-2400/2400 are easily achievable.
2. It gives you a chance to study in some of the Ivy League universities which are way better than the IIT's.
3.Reservations leave many many deserving candidates cursing the government.
4.You two years and uncountable hours your preparation for JEE. You need maybe just 150 odd hours to gear up for SAT and come out with flying colours.
By posting this I do not intend to hurt the feelings of all IItians.I know the amount of hardwork you all have put in to get where some people only dream off.
All said and done BEST OF LUCK FOR JEE.....

The Bejing Olympics - The extravaganza has begun

Finally the biggest sporting extravaganza has gotten underway.Today that is 08/08/08 at 08:08 PM China time the opening ceremony of the 29th Olympic Games went underway.
The glittering ceremony taking place at the Birds Nest Stadium in Beijing had 15000 performers showcasing the Chinese culture right from 5000 years ago up till now. Then came the marching contingents of the participating countries. With participation from 205 countries and 10700 athletes these are expected to be the biggest ever Olympic games.

The Indian Participation
With a contingent of 54 athletes India has a strong presence at the Games. Some prominent names include RVS Rathore,Mansher Singh,Anjali Bhagwat,Abhinav Bindra,Leander Pace,Mahesh Bhupati,Anju Bobby George and many more.

The Absence
Hockey. For the first time ever in Olympic Games India will not participate in the Hockey competitions.

Medal Hopes
Now here I will be frank and can boldly say that at this stage to expect a Gold from any of the athlete is a touch too much.Maybe we can grab up a bronze here or a silver there but to hear the Jana-Gana -Mana at the Olympics we might have to wait another 8 years.
I am not saying so because I do not support India and i whole heatedly wish that the team makes me eat my words but because most of the Indian shooters have been off-colour in the recent past. But having said this shooting is our best bet to win a medal in these Olympics. We all know what is the standard of Indian athletics so to expect a medal in Track and Field events would be to harsh on the athletes. In boxing yes we may spring up a surprise and one or two of our boxers may make it to the quarter finals. Wrestling also can be neglected since it has been a sport traditionally dominated by the Balkan States. Swimming i will be surprised if any of the swimmers are even able to come up in the top 4 in their respective heats.

All of you are welcome to pour in your comments and along with me wish the VERY BEST OF LUCK to the Indian Team and hope they do us proud .
BEST OF LUCK
JAI HIND!!

My Experience in JEE-2008

Well people i gave JEE-2008 on 13th April 2008.
I will now describe my experience to u all so that it can help you tackel JEE better.
I will now rewind the clock to April 2006 when i joined Naryana IIT Academy for preparing for the D-Day in 2008.
I began taking classes at Narayana quite seriously in the process neglecting my school studies, but i was not able to do well anywhere niether at narayana nor at my school that was untill a major test took place at narayana and that was the time i started believing in myself that i can really crack JEE.But soon self beliefe turned into overconfidence and for nearly 3 months whatever was taught at narayana, I did not revise at home.
Result--->1.I did horribly in the second major test at Narayana.
2.I got an early wake up call.
I now realised that cracking JEE might not be that easy after all.I began to work seriously and thus came out with flying colours in the third test.
By the time the fourth test came I was in 12th standard and thus came a period of STRESS,TENSIONS because my performance at school dipped to horribly low levels which were unacceptable, but all these circumstances failed to deter me from giving it my all to JEE. I kept on working for JEE and my performance in my school exams kept dipping. Soon the pre-boards arrived and I left my JEE preparation aside for some time.I did OK in my pre-boards.
Come February 2008 and i started to prepare in the earnest for my Board Examinations and side by side giving some time to JEE. February passed of quite nicely since i was at home 24X7
and March came. The whole month of March went by with out me giving a single minute to JEE preparation.
Finally on the D-Day had arrived. The day i had been waiting for the past 2 years had arrived.
Now i will reveal 1 thing here I HATED MATHS and thus it was my weak point in JEE.

Soon we were seated in the examination halls and were about to write the so called "Toughest Exam on Earth".
The clock started ticking and as soon as i opened the paper i was in for a shock. The first section was Maths and this is the point which i think was the turning point and made the difference b/w me qualifying JEE and loosing out by 9 marks.
I lost my cool as soon as i saw maths first because i had been adapted to Physics first then chemistry(My strongest of the three) and last abut here JEE had sprung up a surprise.
Suddenly the paper became so tough that i was on the verge of tears and had done just 2 questions in 45-50 mins. I had made a mistake here in my eagerness to do the paper i forgot that i should have turned to chemistry straight away rather than wasting my time with maths. But i was already rattled enough and after three hours i was sure it was the end of my dream.
The Second paper brought some respite and it went of well since i was mentally prepared for shocks and surprises. But the damage had been done right in the first paper.

Lessons to be learnt from my experience
1.Never EVER be overconfident about your chances at JEE and during the two years you prepare for it.
2.NEVER divert your attention from your school studies.School is equally important
3.NEVER leave any of your subject weak.It will drag you down.Give equal importance to all subjects.
4.BE prepared for shocks in JEE.Every year they will spring up a surprise and try to throw you off balance in the exam hall.
5.NEVER loose your cool.
6.Say to yourself "If I can't who will??"

I hope my experince may help all you JEE aspirants out there and you all tackle JEE better than I did.

At last my wish comes true

Hi
So at last my long lasting wish has really come true. I wanted to have a blog of my own and yes now i have it.
So happy i am !
May God Bless Us All
